Back in Singapore

to my horror, recently i have learnt that there are actually friends reading my blog. faint~

ok la i should really put in some effort to blog at least some stuffs.

like the title says, i am already back in Singapore but i will be flying back to Japan on Friday. and seriously i am so so sad to leave Japan. sigh, i am so used to the life back in Yamasa, met so many great friends and the thought that we wouldnt be seeing each other so often for the rest of our lives as we stay in different parts of the world just makes my heart aches. T_T

whenever i think of this, i will start to tear slightly. sigh. kk change topic

hmm went to Japan Embassy to apply for Student Visa. Felt dumb that only until today then i realised that the Japan Embassy is near my Japanese School -_- its at Nassim Road which is near Delfi Orchard. Will be collecting my Visa 3 days later. hope everything goes well as my plane in on friday nite =X

one thing i couldnt adjust is that there is no one to speak japanese to since i came back to singapore. damn sad la. and i am so looking forward to meet Maeda and Ooya Sensei for dinner tomorrow. hopefully i can chat with them a little with my simple Japanese. one of my main driving forces for learning japanese quicker is that i want to chat with my sensei in Japanese. Especially Ooya sensei, i always have to end up speaking in english to communicate with her. really hope i can hold a simple conversation with her now.

ok la. thats the update for now. somehow i have more drive to update photos on facebook then to blog haha. so please pardon me if this blog once again stays un-updated =X

sigh. time really flies. 2 more weeks left in Yamasa. while i am glad that my japanese is definitely a lot better than 2 mths plus ago, i am really sad that i am leaving Okazaki. Made many great friends over here and recently i have been playing this Gundam game in the arcade that I wouldnt be able to play in Singapore~!

anyway, went Tokyo last weekend. was very fun and i finally get to visit the various places that are always mentioned on TV. for example Akihabara, Ginza, Ikebukuro etc. Posted the photos on facebook but wasnt able to find the time to blog. my private lessons are taking up quite a bit of my time and at the rate i am learning, i will be able to finish the entire JLPT level 2 syllabus in 3 week of lessons. In Singapore, people usually take 1 to 2 years to finish the syllabus. so ya thats how packed my days are.

other than doing my work, i spent the rest of my free time cooking dinner and making bento for the next day's lunch. seriously, cooking for urself takes up damn a lot of time. even though i sort of learnt how to cooked after i come to Japan, i am definitely not going to do any cooking when i get back to sg =X

ok thats about all. going to watch tv (to practise my listening) and sleeping very soon. going somewhere again this wkend with my friends. have been out every weekend. it really hurts my bank account T_T

ok... gomen nasai... haha for such a long awaited update.

first of all i dont have much interesting thing to update =X cos i haven been going anywhere. just very normal days for me. and next is i have been watching alot of tv rather than going online =X well watching more japanese programme is supposed to have improve my japanese somehow.

also i started my private japanese classes. it wasnt in my plan when i come to japan. i found out about the private lessons when i am here in Yamasa. it is close to 50 dollars per hour and i applied for 20 hours worth of classes. which cost about 1000. my dad is so going to kill me. but i really think the private 1 to 1 lesson is going to be very very useful. the pace and attention is just on a different level as compared to taking a group class (my class has 14 people and seriously the pace is not that fast so as to accomodate the average standard of the class) so yup. has lots of homework and lots of preparation for classes and lots of self study. In singapore, people usually take 1-2 yrs of wkly classes to study for JLPT level 2 syllabus.. and for me i am learning ALL of them in 20 hours =X i am memorising like 20 new grammar and tons of new words every lessons. my brain is literally stretched to its limit.

lastly i spent much of my free time cooking dinner and preparing the next day's bento (lunch~)
till date i have cooked japanese curry rice, pasta, some random meat with veg, kimchi with pork etc (simple dishes). and seriously cooking takes up damn a lot of time. it is just something that is impossible to do.

time flies. i have already spent 2 mths over here. seriously i dont want time to pass so fast sigh., dont really want to leave this place. being in japan is really very fun for me. knowing that my japanese improves everyday is just great plus the food here are really very nice. another 1 mth. iam so going to miss here

oh and i went Osaka last wkend. havent upload the photo. dont really have time. i will upload them when i have the time. this wkend i am going tokyo~(finally~! the long awaited tokyo trip) so ya. maybe i will upload everything together.

Osaka is just a food heaven. everything i ate in osaka were damn nice. and i finally got the chance to eat the REAL and ORIGINAL takoyaki. and Osaka is famous for their takoyaki and okonomiyaki =)

hmm ok. its 12am here. and i still havent finished my hw. so thats all for the update~! for those who has been checking my blog, i am so sorry, haha. i am just not a motivated blogger =X see you guys in a mths time~! =)

Saw snow for the first time in my life~!!

ok i know it is a bit late to blog about something that happened 2 days ago... but i finally found some motivation to blog today haha. (i spent much of the free time watching Eyeshield 21 which is an anime on American football~)

before i say something, i think picture speaks a thousand words so here it goes

now that i think of it... i feel stupid for forgetting to take another video when the whole place is covered with snow...

anyway it was such a fun day. everywhere looked so pretty with the snow especially the lake. it is just very very nice~

bascially spent the whole day playing in the snow with Melissa, invited Mi san and Royce to join us but they kindly declined cos they think they are too old to play in the snow -_-

we were all very lucky to be able to see snow in okazaki. it doesnt snow in every winter over here. maybe once every 2-3 yrs. and i have always thought i wont be able to see any snow this time round. =) it made my Yamasa trip even more memorable.

also this is already the 6th week in Japan. time really flies especially when we are having so much fun. everyday is stress free, and i get to learn japanese everyday. my japanese should have improved quite a bit since i left singapore. and if i were to stay in singapore, i would probably need half a year to learn what i have learnt over here in 6 weeks? so yup... i really like it here.

the thought that i am going to leave Yamasa in 6 wks time just scares me. totally dont feel homsick at all haha. always hope that time passes slower zz.

ok la Sorry guys... i know i hasnt been blogging.

but i got nothing interesting to blog ma. recently my days had been very normal. i didnt go anywhere. last weekend was a very peaceful weekend for me. =)

since i reached here, i have been going to visit other cities/towns every weekend and obviously that needed money. so it has been quite painful financially. so finally i got a weekend to rest in Okazaki.

and recently there has been a major change to my life style. been going to sleep at 10pm Japan time? haha which is like 9pm SG. so ya didnt go on msn for quite some while. been watching a lot of japanese TV. somehow i have this theory that watching more TV will improve my spoken japanese. so if i watch continuously for 2 mths, i hope somehow i will pick up some speaking skills subconsciously. also kelvin has been sleeping quite early. so when he sleeps, the room will be dark, and it is really difficult to use the laptop. so what happens is i sleep early as well. when he sleep early, he will wake up early too. so if i sleep late, i will be waked up early and i had that experience quite a few times... it is seriously not good -_- so ya the way to fight it, i will just sleep early and wake up early too. Kelvin has been running every morning and ya i hasnt been running =X feel damn guilty... i have the discipline to mug but somehow i dont have the discipline to go running everyday zz

anyway apparently CNY is coming soon. doesnt feel anything special. think my family is going to miss me and this is the first time i am not spending CNY with the family. my mum was very angry/upset that her son told her that he is not homesick!~ haha. come on, isnt that supposed to be a good thing. would you want your son to feel homesick when he goes overseas? he is supposed to be independent and he has to stay in Japan for another 7 mths, so how can he feel homesick =P

it has been a long while since i blogged. and finally i got something interesting to blog~

My new handphone~!

first of all, i finally got myself a handphone in Japan~ to cut the long story short, just know that in my current circumstances, i cant buy a handphone in japan due to their regulations and such. so after much much much trouble, my cousin who stays in Tokyo bought a softbank handphone for me and mailed it over to Okazaki~ even though it is a very simple phone without TV etc i am just glad i finally got myself a phone and it makes life a lot more convenient. then again, as of now i only have very few people on my contact list and the only person i have been calling and emailing is my sis only =P

Angelina's 21st Birthday, Karaoke Session

friday was Angelina's birthday, so we rallied a whole big group of people and went karaoke. the karaoke here mainly has japanese songs and some korean, english and chinese songs. so at least i got to sing some jay chou's songs muahaha. we sang from 10pm till 4am? cost about 20 SGD. not that bad considering it is a friday night and we had free flow non alcoholic drinks~

apparently we are planning to go there again cos it is a lot cheaper during off peak hours. have to memorise some japanese songs!

Nagashima Spaland and Themepark~!

ok this is the most fun park of the entire week. basically we spent the whole saturday at a themepark~ bought a one day pass which cost me about 50 odd SGD. it was so fun. i realised that i am really a themepark person haha. when i am in fukuoka in april, maybe i should go a themepark as well.

HOWEVER, the saddest thing is their main attraction is down as they are doing some maintenance. we were so so disappointed. the roller coaster looked so majestic zz

anyway we took the other of their main attraction which is insanely fun as well. i cant describe it in words but see the photo i guess you can already guess how shiok it is to take that ride!
we took the rides like 4 times in total? haha. its extremely fun~

anyway took tons of photo and i have uploaded them to facebook =) uploading here in blogspot is kinda troublesome so i can only upload selectively~

so that concludes my weekend. today is sunday and i have just been lazing around doing nothing really constructive. will blog again when there is something interesting~!

Trip to Nagoya Castle and Hirokoji Sakae (which is in Nagoya)

ok finally got something to blog. went to Nagoya on saturday with Kelvin, Melissa and Angelina. eh it is really quite an interesting place. since coming to Japan, i have been at okazaki city which is really quite a small town/city. thus things that i have seen so far are not very representive of japan's culture. in Nagoya, i finally get to see the packs and packs of people in the train station, the highly complex subway system and also the prettier gals~! haha. apparently pple in Nagoya bother to dress up more.

we met early in the morning and went to Nagoya. took a 40 min train ride to get there. cost me about 5 SGD. which is ok i think. we went to the information counter to ask for direction when we reach Nagoya. Nagoya is really huge. judging from the subway system, maybe a few times bigger than SG? from what we have gathered, we decided to visit the Nagoya castle and Sakae which is like their shopping district.

hmm not sure how i can describe Nagoya castle. the photo are uploaded in facebook. so can always take a look there. i am not a person who likes to see this kind of stuffs when overseas, i prefer the shopping district more but i never regreted going Nagoya Castle. its really quite eh 壮观.

we then went to Sakae for lunch, followed by some random window shopping and dinner again. seriously about food in japan, so far i havent eaten anything that is not nice~! haha all the food taste damn good. or maybe because we know how to pick places to eat. anyway being able to eat japanese food everyday is just great =) especially when u can get a damn good ramen at 5 SG. even at the restaurants, it cost maybe 10 bucks? which is still cheaper than the japanese food we find in SG.

and in the end, we took a ferris wheel to get a view of the city. took a video of us in the cabin~ in order of appearance, Kelvin, Angelina then Melissa.

anyway melissa is now my godsister. same age as my bro 19 yrs old. she is from Hong Kong but has been studying in London. i always make her speak to me in cantonese so that i can practise my cantonese haha. basically she is still on the kiddy side, likes all the girly and cute stuffs person. but on the other hand you can also sense how independent a person she is. also she just received news that she got accepted into LSE for her econs and maths degree. so i guess she must be some very brilliant student. congratz to her~!

My 100th post~!

eh ok, Yu Hui was saying on her blog that she reached her 444th post. so i took a look at mine and i realise this is the 100th post haha. a special number so i tot maybe i should just make a note.

just realised that the last time i post was on monday which is like few days ago. then was complained by Yu Hui that i didnt update my blog regularly. she think i so happening meh haha everyday oso got things to blog. past few days really juz quite normal. now that i have more or less settled down, time just fly. before i know it, it is already turning to friday~

nothing really special happen. if mian qiang want to mention something, it would be that i found a very huge book store near my place, and most importantly, there is a huge manga section. what is even better is they have this section where they have all the first episode/book of all the manga series, free for everyone to read. i have been trying to find a manga cafe since i reached here but in vain, so i am really happy that at least i find this place where i can read free japanese manga.

of cos the drawback is that its onli the 1st book. then again, the main reason i wan to read the japanese manga is that it is the easiest to read compared to novel etc. and by reading the japanese manga, i will definitely improve my japanese. so lets say maybe i read 30 1st episode of japanese manga , that is alot of japanese i have read~ =) hopefully this helps me get better in japanese. and seriously it is much better than doing nothing at all rite.

other than this, i have also decided to write a diary in japanese. initially i wanted to blog it, but i realise that if i were to write it down, it forces me to spell the words and to write out the characters which would really be quite good for revision. also if i were to write it on a book, i can write it anywhere including times when i am travelling to other cities. so yup. thats all for now. this weekend i will be going somewhere out of okazaki city. i should have more interesting things to tok abt and to upload~

Youtube really comes in handy when overseas

spent the weekend watching youtube with my friends in their hostel. the sad thing is i was questioned by i think the housekeeper of the hostel and i was told to leave. i ended up hiding in my friends room while they prepare the dinner in their communal kitchen. so after dinner, 4 of us just watched youtube all the way till maybe 11pm? there is no TV in their room so we just watch youtube. its a 17 inch laptop so it isnt that bad.

the funnier videos we have watched are Pan Kun, Russell peters, hard gay and previewman!

if u guys got the chance, u all should go watch it~ i shall load the video of previewman and maybe hard gay for u guys to watch

Trip to Naka Okazaki~

ok i have just uploaded my photo to facebook for my this trip to naka okazaki. it is ridiculously fast. or rather to put it the other way, now i realise how ridiculously slow SG's internet is. especially for such a developed country.

as of now i haven figured out how to add many photo to my blog so i guess i will just pick those with all my friends inside~!

hmm we went to okazaki castle in the early afternoon. so this is the group shot we took with the castle behind. i have friends from greece, new york, taiwan, germany, italy, hong kong and there is a japanese gal too~

this is a more closed up shot~ for info, the gal in blue is from HK, but she stayed in singapore till JC. currently studying in a HK uni. she is going Seoul, Korea for a one year exchange~! she is just staying for 6 weeks over here in Yamasa. the gal on her left is Melissa, 19 years old only. waiting to go university, most likely in UK. grew up in london but she is from HK. seems like many people from HK send their kids overseas somehow -_- my MA prof Katherine Yuen who is from HK went overseas to study too. her 2 other sisters went overseas as well and in fact all of them do not stay in HK anymore.

oh and this is a handsome shot of Kelvin =X haha~ my room mate, SMU 3rd year. we took this picture inside the museum at okazaki castle. it cost me 4 plus bucks to enter. and seriously there is nothing very interesting haha. so felt abit cheated. but well, it was very very cold outside, so i bought some warmth with that 4 plus.

afterwhich we went to eat at the shopping arcade. then we returned to okazaki. nothing exceptionally happening today. just that it was quite interesting to go out with so many pple from all over the world. and i guess we really stood out as a grp when we were walking ard.

First day of School at Yamasa

Osu~ this morning was the start of my lesson. not too bad. as i already knew almost all the grammar that i am going to learn for these 3 mths, it is going to be a relatively easy course for me. so i am using this chance to watch more tv, speak to more people using words that i supposed to know but somehow didnt use before, reading etc. basically the school load will not be very heavy so at the end of the 3 mths, whether i will learn a lot out of this trip really depends on the non sch things that i will be doing, like toking to the shopkeepers, toking to sensei etc. i have the option to change to another class which focuses of conversation only, but it is going to be very packed and fast paced. so after much thought, i was thinking even though it is good that i will learn a lot if i change class, i still prefer to enjoy my stay here and not become some hardcore mugger just to keep up with class -_- haha

Bleach Movie - The Diamond Dust Rebellion~

osu, i finally got to visit the japan cinema. actually it is nothing very special. it is just like any other cinema in SG. today after class, me and kelvin met up with the korean couple, a hong kong gal (who is just 19 yrs old and waiting to go Uni in UK), few other friends we just made. went to visit the place they stay which at Yamasa Village. apparently it is hostel like where people share the facilities.

we then went to a near by shopping centre which has a cinema inside, and somehow we found out that a few of us watch anime and that obviously includes Bleach. and tata~ we realised that the cinema is showing a new Bleach movie, the dianmond dust rebellion~! so yup went to watch the movie. below is the trailer!

something interesting about the movie ticket rates. wednesday is ladies day, thursday is guys day, 50 yr old couple has discount too etc. so yup something you dont expect in SG. normal ticket sells at about 20 odd bucks which is freaking expensive, but today is thurday (i.e guys day!) so i paid 13 bucks to watch bleach. which is a lot cheaper. of course it still hurt my wallet. but well i have to at least try watching a movie in japan once rite?

oh back to bleach~ the movie isnt that bad. got a few taicho come out to fight. the only problem i have is there is NO SUBTITLE. super tough. so for most part of the show i have been guessing what they are saying. oh and something amazing, melissa (the hong kong gal) learnt all her japanese from watching anime without subtitle. she did that for 2 yrs? and seriously i think her japanese is comparable to mine if not even better -_- and she is currently assigned to beginner class starting from chapter 1 -_- all because she nv formally learn japanese before. so from now on i shall oso watch anime without subtitle!! argh

ok la. as of now life is still going well. things are expensive but i have been sticking to the cheaper stuffs which is slightly more expensive than stuffs in SG. my lunch was a bento which cost me 6 bucks? so 20 school days = 20 bento so thats hmm 120 bucks haha. still need to add breakfast and dinner. so hopefully i got enuf money to survive.

Yamasa Orientation

Orientation

Today is orientation of Yamasa. Apparently this batch of intake is about 32 students. it is quite an interesting day as i got to meet people from many parts of the world~ i met people from Italy, Germany, US, France, Hong Kong etc. i oso got to meet the Korean couple who took the bus with me that night from the meet up point to my apartment. apparently they are husband and wife and ya the wife can only speak korean. the husband is a America Born Korean. cool. the weird thing that is going to happen soon is that our common language is going to be japanese and not english -_- and most of the people already studied japanese before. except for this one guy who is total beginner. but seriously i think it is good for him la. within 3 mths he will learn so much more than what i have learnt for 1 and half yr in SG.

My new bicycle

tata~ here is my newly rented old bicycle. it cost me about SGD $65 to rent for 3 mths and another 65 of deposit. to buy a new one would cost me about 130 bucks. so i guess renting is still a good deal ba. ya i noe it doesnt look cool or stylish but thats how every bicycle on the street look like. with the basket in front or at the back. and since it is not new, it also wont appeal people who steal.

oh it oso comes with a certificate, every bike is like registered so when police ask i will have to show them this

My Denshi Jisho (Electronic Dictionary)

so after i bought my bike, i ride down all the way down to Okazaki Shopping Centre again to buy long awaited Denshi Jisho! mine is a Casio XD-SW6500. bought at about $260. if i buy this in SG, it would have cost me 400 bucks easily ba~ yeah finally a denshi jisho~ its something i want since i started learning japanese, so thats almost 2 yrs?
Trash Disposal System

ok i think most pple may know how japanese have many trash bins for different kinds of trash. even for homes, people are supposed to sort out their trash correctly. so ya i got some brochures today

eh yup. anyway there are damn alot of things abt this trash disposal system that me and kelvin havent really figured out yet. what we do know is that for the past few days we have been sorting wrongly zzz. so one of these days we have to dig out our rubbish and resort -_-

ok done~ a rather long post today. tml lesson gonna start. when sch starts i wonder if i still have time to blog as often. but ya i will try as much as possible ma. i wonder who is reading -_-

oh and side note. i have been typing this entire post as seen below~

ok. someone important made me worried that my lazy eye will disfigure me so ya for the person's sake and oso for my sake, i went to buy a eye patch at daiso, and ya will try as much as possible to use it when i am online or wat ba. hopefully can help train my lazy eye slightly. i shld have done this when i was much younger but sigh. nian shao wu zhi ma. and seriously, it is very xin ku to see the screen with juzt my left eye arghh.

Getting used to life here

ok after a few days, i think i am slowly getting used to the life in winter. like how to bathe without freezing myself, what to dress in the room and wat to dress outside blah blah. anyway kelvin somehow juz wear lesser clothes then me. cant understand how he can stand the cold. then again he is the one down with flu now and i am still going strong and healthy muahaha

apparently i spent quite a bit of money for start up items like those cooking utensils, initial stock of food, some books, stationery, magzine etc. and today we were just looking at the electronic dictionary which cost a bomb in singapore kino. thats gonna be about 200 bucks we are spending. we oso need to buy a bicycle, cheapest one we found also cost abt 100 -_- sianz. original budget is about 500 a mth, i oready spent like half of it on 2 items

oh and one thing about here is that at 5.30pm... the sky is pitch dark -_- its very eh weird kind of feeling haha. then at night, i keep having this feeling its very late but when i look at the clock. its eh 7pm maybe? when i FEEL like its 10pm. then when i think its midnite oready, the clock shows 9pm... its ridiculously long night for me. haha think gonna take some time to get used to it.

hmm oh and i went to Okazaki shopping centre. when me and kelvin saw the place from far, we were so so so stunned. if u have been to JUSCO in malaysia (it is those giant shopping mart) it looked EXACTLY the same. kelvin and i are from msia so we have been to the JUSCO before and seriously, we were so surprised haha. wanted to take a photo but we didnt bring along our camera, i will try to post the photo next time when we have the chance.

tml is orientation le for Yamasa. supposed to tell us this place etc. and especially about our rubbish. how we throw rubbish. in case u all dunno, over here, everytime i throw something at home, i have to think whether isit burnable. so we got 2 different trash bin in our room and also in the kitchen. which is like so ma fan. anyway looking forward to the orientation tml. it also means that sch gonna start~! seriously i want learn fast such that i can at least understand the japanese programme and books that i have bought. of cos ultimately i hope i can talk to people~

this place is both the most shiok place and the most dreadful place. it is most shiok when i bathe in hot water, but before the shiokness i gotta undress in 4 degree celsius zzz

i still haven figure out how to do big business in the middle of the night when it is 4 degree -_- haha
oh this is the induction cooker. quite cool. only metal objects placed on it gets heated up. BY RIGHT my hand wont feel anything but i dont dare to try haha

past few days, my regular hand outs are Daiso and Seiyu. keep going there to buy all the stuffs i need. and somehow we always leave out some stuffs and have to return again. 100 yen shop rocks. Daiso is 100 yen, and inside Seiyu there is oso a 100 store. so almost everything i used at home are 100 yen stuffs. anyway 100 yen is about SGD $1.30 so yup, i feel so cheapo sometimes haha. it is not like my parents nv give me enough money to spend in japan. it is just survival instinct to spend as little as possible haha. maybe deep down i am a thrifty person! haha

From Changi Airport to my Apartment in Japan

hmm ok haha i am thinking how i am supposed to describe the entire trip. its gonna be very long post.

lets see.

Changi Airport

ok first off its at changi airport. met my clique at 12 plus am to hang around all the way till 5 plus when i went into the gate. really thanks to them, i had such a warm eh fairwell. and we joked and laughed so much that i guess helps to makes me not nervous (which i think most pple are suppsoed to be nervous if it is the first time they are going overseas alone.

I took the Northwest airline btw. On the plane i decided not to play my psp to conserve the battery (even though i have 3 battries which can last a total of 10 hours) and i watched heartbreak kid plus i slpt the rest of the flight. the seat wasnt exactly the most comfortable seat so i didnt really sleep well also la.

Narita Airport

technically, i reached japan already. haha but i am just transiting. had to wait 5 hours at Narita before my next flight. i tot time was going to pass damn slow but good thing was it was a totally foreign place to me, and i did some exploring. after walking and browsing for 3-4 hours i think, i haven even cover more than half the air port -_- it is ridiculously huge. also with so many places to eat, i decided to eat mac donald haha. seriously, going overseas, seeing a mac donald really cheers me up damn alot. as i am travelling alone, i am pretty stressed and oh high alert most of the time so these kind of little things brought some joy haha.

Nagoya Airport

finally i reached nagoya airport. and here comes the toughest part of the entire day. which is to get to the bus stop and take the correct bus to the place where someone is going to pick me up -_- plus with so many luggage, the task is rather daunting. plus i not sure how cold it is outside so i also dont know how much to wear. was just observing people around me who are walking out and trying to gauge wat to wear haha.

anyway eventually i got to the bus and took a 1 and 30 hour bus ride. at this point of time, i am super duper shag le... it is almost 18 hours since i left changi airport... so i juz fell asleep on the bus without knowing it. by the time i reach the destination, i found a phone booth and called the yamasa personnel. eventually a guy picked me up together with a korean couple i think. and here comes the highlight of the day. the korean gal asked me if i am korean! haha. i wonder if thats a good thing lol

My Apartment
and the happiest moment is when i reach the apartment, Kelvin opened the door. i almost wanted to cry (ok la not so kua zhang. it is juz to desc how touched i am). that i am finally at my destination. eventually i ended my day with a long and cold walk to Macdonald to have dinner/supper at about midnite haha. i almost frost to death cos i never wear my long john inside. Kelvin more li hai. the first night when he arrived, there isnt any futon (those thick thick blanket) so he practically froze like mad that night and couldnt really sleep. poor kelvin. haha thanks to him i got the futon all ready =)

it has really been an interesting travelling alone, transiting alone, and trying to take a coach from airport to a city, meeting up with an unknown person. so ya. tired le haha. tml then i blog more i guess.

Reached Japan!

Osu. finally. i am finally here! haha. it feels really "unreal" that i am finally physically in Japan. I have always wanted to go Japan after watching all the drama etc but i always thought it is going to take years before i have the chance to go. Plus i always think that visiting Japan as a tourist is not going to be the same as staying in Japan for a period of time. anyway i am very very tired now haha. later when i am more awake i will post more. gonna take photo of my apartment and post it up also. wanted to describe my journey from Changi airport to how i get to the apartment. this is the first time i travelled alone so most part of the trip i keep hoping nothing goes wrong =X haha

Oh man. its already thursday. later going out for K Lunch with e clique followed by lunch with JCC exco. and that would pretty much conclude the day and friday would be the very very last day.

anyway juz an update of what happened for the past few days.

31st December. Despite being the last day of 2007, when people will go out party and countdown. shaoming wasnt free to jio the clique out because he need to organise some event for YuHua CC. Louis got emo, and refuse to jio the clique out. I oso abit lazy to take action to jio the clique out. so in the end, we did nothing haha. on 31st Dec -_- me, my bro and louis eventually met up at AMK Hub to eat NYNY for dinner. its my first time eating NYNY so ok la not that bad for 31st Dec. We rented some dvd and managed to watched The Illusionist on my new 46 inch HDTV before i got really tired at KOed at 2am i think

1st January. the clique met up for dinner, prompted by Louis and jio-ed by me. haha. made a call to everyone to ask them for dinner and surprisingly, most people can make it. so we had fish and co at Paragon which wasnt very packed (came as a surprise too) We then moved to NYDC at wheellock where we so called celebrated Cherie's Birthday and Charlene's belated birthday (hers was 30th Dec and she got emo cos we didnt celebrate for her or wish her happy birthday haha)

2nd January. Went out with Yu Hui for the very last time before i leave for Japan. she wanted to watch movie and the problem is there isnt any very nice movie around. so we just give I am Legend a chance despite all the lousy reviews from friends etc. it turned out to be not that bad la actually. or maybe its just both of us being not so critical or picky. well but i like the show so as long as i didnt feel like i wasted my money then its ok. We then went to Central (sometimes i feel like i am bringing some overseas fren ard as Yu Hui seriously doesnt know much about places in Singapore haha) walked ard, and we ate at manhattan fish market. if u realise, i just ate fish and co previously, and here i am eating another fish and chips at manhattan -_- haha. but ok la. i always liked manhattan's fish and chips

3rd January. i.e today. going to K Lunch with the clique then going Central for lunch with JCC exco. then i will go home, and will try to complete my PC game Crysis. haha apparently my brother just completed and he told me i am about 3 hrs to go. so i am going to chiong and finish the game! and i guess i oso have to do some final packing and get ready.

Back from ACF Retreat

The ACF retreat was surprisingly not as bad as i thought. of cos it is not like it is very exciting and filled with fun etc. but the past 3 days was quite relaxing, it is almost like a getaway from my everyday routine.

ironically it is oso during this retreat that i get to eat proper meals at the proper timings. and basically the retreat is like a eat and eat gathering haha. breakfast, followed by lunch soon after, then tea break, then dinner, then supper -_- the food was not bad also. so no complains for that.

Me and Edmund represented JCC and we were given the same room as the guitarissimo people i.e Steph and Kenneth. and for the entire retreat, i think we were the most nua group of people cos whenever we have break time, we will juz go back to our room and slack. play cards etc. and thanks to kenneth, i never have a moment of peace silence cos he just keep playing the guitar whenever he has nothing to do.

going for this ACF retreat, i guess the main take away for me is that it really made me think about what i have been doing in my life so far and also what i am going to do in the future. i realise that people in the arts and cultural side knows how to dance, knows music etc. and i know none -_- does learning Japanese considered part of the arts? haha. anyway i juzt quite sad that i dun know such stuffs.

when i go japan i really should think about picking up some music stuffs. i have always wanted to learn guitar since JC... but my determination a bit cuiz. so i guess maybe i can start from there. since guitar is cheap and i can buy a guitar in japan and learn on my own. when i go to my exchange university, maybe i can join their guitar club and learn.

Then again Yu Hui was suggesting why not learn piano, which is supposedly easier to learn and pick up (of course mastering is another matter). given it some thought, even talked about it with my bro, and we kinda agree. so maybe when i come back to singapore, i will consider either sign up for piano course or guitar course or Saxophone course! haha

oh and ya i passed my NDS to Yu Hui. She was like so excited and i guess i am happy that my NDS finally got the chance to be put into good use again. brought happiness to someone ma haha. personally, after having the NDS for a year plus, i have grown not to enjoy playing it so much =X haha and summore i bought a PSP recently. which is of course more interesting as it is new. also girls seems to be able to make better use of NDS as they get fanscinated by all the kiddy games so they potentially has a much greater range of games available to play.

ok la. 5 days left. rather than excitement, i actually feels weird also. it is like i cant believe in a few days time i will physically be in Japan. winter summore. -_- somehow i feel like i got a lot of things i want to do but obviously lacking in time.

ok 22 years old le and It's Christmas~

wah i am so so tired. haha. i didnt sleep properly like for 2 days plus. i just woke up from my 9 hours sleep. past 2 days was quite happening so was thinking i should blog about the events for credits!

first of all on the 23rd Dec evening, me, ming yun, ken, shun ping, yun qi, chris, fu khai, yong kai went over to Ken's house to stay over. rented 5 vcds and in the end we only managed to finish 3 of them. and we ate prata for supper at 3am and ended up going to a playground playing bridge (while me and shun ping played with a kitten haha). eventually we lasted till 9am and all of us are feeling very restless already. Also really thanks to them that they celebrated my birthday for me too. in fact its like at midnite, so it makes them the earliest grp of people to celebrate for me =) and special thanks to my buddy ming yun. i guess she is like the mastermind behind this. zhen bu kui shi wo de hao peng you T_T

afterwhich, i went home, took a very very short nap and i went out to meet Yu Hui le... eh i think we go out really quite budget one haha. i can just listen to her talk and talk and talk and talk and talk. with some occasional input lol =P but good also la. cos i that afternoon really energy super low. so i am at the "conserve energy" mode. cant be too hyper oso. and thanks to her for giving me the birthday + xmas present (ok i agree also your drawing a bit cuiz lol. jk la) even my clique conveniently doesnt give me present la -_- anyway we just chit chat the whole afternoon away and special thanks to Yu Hui tata~ always good to have a pretty lady's company for birthday =)

lastly in the evening, met the clique and we had steamboat at Louis house. I really think Louis house is quite nice. its not big but simple and ya got the homely feeling. anyway i think steamboat is quite fun to do once in a while. cant stop laughing as we eat and crack jokes. even Louis's elder sister is quite funny too. and apparently they bought some cheap birthday cake and was suan by the sister LOL. and aiya actually it doesnt matter la. got come out accompany me i already quite happy le =)

we then played over night mahjong. (remember that i haven sleep yet since eh the day before argh. my luck was quite good so managaed to win eh 16 bucks? louis won 25 i think. Jun hao lost 2 bucks and the most ke lian is shao ming. who lost all the chips of 40 bucks haha. in fact we didnt even finished the 2nd round as we decided to stop when shaoming lost all the chips. damn cham la. he only won i think 2 games in the entire night. super suay. well haha. mah jong really shows your character like what my dad always say. and wat yu hui always say too. so i think we should all lose mah jong often to train up on your patience and endurance haha. stay sane and happy even when losing -_- lol

kz la typed quite a bit le. tired. later going to Shaoming's house to stay the nite. Louis was saying that we die die also have to go out for christmas cos its very ke lian/ simple unacceptable that we stay at home for xmas lol. so yup thats all.

Last Japanese Lesson at Bunka

Its so fast. today was the last Japanese class at Bunka before i fly off to Japan. Maeda Sensei is taking tml's flight to return to Japan for her holiday~ going to email her and ooya sensei when i am free one of these days. they are really nice sensei. one of my greatest hope when i come back from Japan 8 mths later is to be able to talk to them in Japanese =) i always felt bad for not being able to substain a conversation with them in Japanese T_T

did some shopping after my Japanese class. bought adapter for my plugs. bought addidas scarf (like finally phew) and a Puma sneakers (which is like the cheapest model there $49.90). i bought 3 pairs of socks too. but my dad was saying that the socks i bought is definitely not going to be thick enough. guess i really need to make a trip to one of those winter wear shops and buy the super thick "for winter" kind of socks.

later going to Ken's house to stay over nite with the Ming Yun's gang. gonna be a a few packed days ahead. Meeting Yu Hui for lunch on 24th and evening the clique gonna have steamboat and tata~ its oready my birthday. dont really feel anything special though. just another year for me. i think 25th the clique may be meeting up again.

Went shopping with Dad

first of all its 12 days to departure. and after close inspection at my calendar, i realise i only have 4 weekdays which i am free left. the rest of the days i already have something on. scary xia. like running out of time. there are still things i wanna do in SG before i leave T_T

anyway today went shopping with Dad. he finally decided to buy a HDTV... he has always wanted one and it just went on and on for mths before he finally decide to buy it today. today i ended up being his chauffeur and it has really been a very long while since i last drove. felt very weird. had great difficulty parking the car arghh. anyway its good refresher as i am going to get the international driving permit so that i can rent a car to drive in japan during wkends.

besides buying a 42" Hitachi HDTV... we went down to Best Denki at Bishan Junction 8. my dad took for ages to decide on buying his $599 Casio Exilim Camera. so the current camera that he has belongs to me now =) so that i can bring to Japan.

Lastly i bought a new handphone... hmm Nokia 6500 Classic for $88 bucks with plan (extended my brother's plan). i just bought the phone because i needed a 3G phone to autoroam in Japan. zzz and my Samsung U600 iznt 3G sigh. seriously i love my current phone. its damn sleek and nice. received many many compliments. and i spent 500 bucks to buy it 6 mths ago -_- so what happens to it now? i am giving it to my brother zz.. 500 bucks phone in exchange for a 88 bucks phone. sigh. i am oso passing him my $180 crumpler bag zzz. i figured that in Japan, i will look pretty weird carrying a crumpler bag.

good news is the nokia 6500 classic turned out to be a very slim and sleek phone too. so ok la... not like its going to be some cuiz phone.

its a weird feeling. now i juz wan time to slow down. haha its passing way too fast!

now that i start counting down, i realise i really dont have much time left. and i still haven got my stuffs prepared. haven bough my scarf, haven get the jacket and gloves from junhao, haven buy my shoes etc etc. jia lat xia. and i still have a 3 days ACF retreat to go... which is about 1/4 of the time left -_-

zz.now i juz hope i get the stuffs settled and dont miss out anything. worse thing to happen when i reach Japan is that i realise i 4gotten something. which is going to be so so bad...

wah today i abit wu liao so i tried counting the number of days left before i fly to Japan and to my surprise, i am only left with 20 days. During the sch term i have always wanted it to come sooner, but now that it is the holiday, i am actually enjoying my life slacking now. zzz and my luggage i havent really start packing, and my buying list, i think i have only bought like 10% of the items? haha cuiz. i think i really need to hurry slightly.

Read YuHui's blog. dedicate that 宅男 song for me somemore. recently i have been branded a 宅男 by her cos she thinks i always stay at home and play game and watch video and nv go out. eh now that i think of it, since holiday started, i never really spent a full day at home -_- haha (contrary to the what an Otaku should do). one of the main reasons is the clique is exceptionally active this holiday... haha somehow everyone always free to come out leh. last summer all of us were quite busy cos of our CCA commitments but for this december break, all of them stepped down already so i guess that explains why we are all so free. we are meeting almost everyday and shaoming's house is beginning to be "raided" by us again haha.

and once again kudos to YuHui, cos i have been going out with her for 3-4 days consecutively and she still hasn't exhaust her topic even though she had 80% of the air time. monsterous ability to keep the conversation going.

oh... watched Warlords with Shao, Louis, JunHao and Char at 12.45am at the Cathay... super shag. made me skipped my Japanese Class this morning cos i couldnt wake up (feeling abit bad cos i dont remember intentionally skipping Japanese Class before)... slept at 5am lor. anyway the show is not bad. i like the show but thats also because i like this kind of chinese 古代 warfare shows. all the struggles due to the differences in principles and values and the 朝廷 politics are nice to watch. Takeshi played a very candid role in the show. haha the way he say certain lines is juz hilarious and most of the laughter in the cinema came because of Takeshi. Andy Lau is quite zhai in his acting (as expected from my 偶像) Jet Li is good too. he is quite suitable to act in these kind of 古代 shows haha. Relatively, Jacky Chan definitely cant haha.

Shopping for Winter wear and got myself a New PSP~

ok.. think first of all, i think it is pretty ironic that i ended up blogging less after the exams haha. been doing all sorts of random stuffs and it just didnt occur to me to update my blog haha. ok la.. i am juz lazy. cant expect much from a person who sleeps like 10-12 hours everyday hehe

since i last blogged, i think quite some stuffs happened, and if i were to talk about everything, its gonna take forever, so i guess i will juz highlight the main stuffs =)

first of all. I got myself a PSP =) and thanks to Christy who followed me to buy a PSP. then again advice to you guys, if you are contemplating whether to buy a PSP, never ask a PSP owner... haha cos someone you will get psycho-ed to buy one. anyway i spent about $440 to buy my PSP.. and ya i spend tons of hours playing Final Fantasy Tactics these days. it is hard to find me idling these days haha cos i spend every minute of my free time playing my PSP -_-

besides that i have been window shopping like mad with my clique. especially louis haha. think we really gay buddies. go out almost everyday for a week. cos he stays in toa payoh, i will even ask him down to amk S11 to eat dinner sometimes. anyway after walking around orchard, vivo, PS, bugis even, i realise i am very much attracted to Zara and pull and bear stuffs. not sure why but i guess that makes shopping reallly easy for me next time haha. cos i onli got that few places to go. winter wear really quite expensive. hopefully i can borrow the jackets and gloves from junhao and charlene's friend. so that i need to buy just the long sleeve shirts and knitted etc which can still be won in SG after i come back from Japan.

Getting lazy to type liao haha... maybe one last thing, today i was "cheated" by YuHui to watch Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium -_- haha ok la not exactly cheated la. it is just that i totally didnt know what the show is about and i booked the ticket zz. the show turned out to be some kids show la haha. which aiya.. she is just trying very hard to "act" young to watch such shows so no choice, i gotta act young with her oso. dont understand why gals cant accept that they just cant be forever 18 yrs old haha. anyway ok la the show is not thattttt bad. but oso not of blockbuster material. so for any guys who wanna watch that show, at least make sure the person u watch with will like these kind of fantasy, and kids kind of show. as least at the end of the day you know you made someone happy and you will feel happy at the end of the show too. hopefully. haha

and i gotta say YuHui is very li hai when comes to 八卦 stuffs. and she can talk even more than me. very rare to find someone who talks more than me when I go out -_- so kudos to YuHui~ haha

End of the War and Start of the aimless December~!

the exam ended le. and seriously it feels kinda weird with nothing to work towards. cos past few weeks almost everyday.. if i got free time, i will either slp or i will study... den now... i got so so much free time until i dun really know wat to do zz

spent the whole of today playing Bioshock. eh its a new first person shooter game and its really not that bad. quite fun. its supposed to be 9.5 out of 10 according to gamespot anyway. played for so so long. damn tired.

then later in the evening i was actually trying to play Warbook... an application on facebook which is so so so much like Utopia which i have been playing since sec 1?

so ya and thanks to siow ween, who sent me several millions gold... and yong jin who sent me 45million!! haha with their help.. i managed to figure out how to play the game and i grew from 1000 acres to now 25000 acres... but den again.. its still damn damn far from siow ween la... who is like 900000 plus plus acres... insane...

and tomorrow is supposed to be JLPT... and i didnt study a single bit... mug for too long le... suddenly lose all motivation to mug haha.. especially when this one doesnt have GPA.. juz pass or fail... just hope my watching of japanese drama can help me pass JLPT 3! haha

Time really flies xia. it is already going to be friday and it is like the last friday of the semester! my last paper is on next week friday.

i have 4 papers and workload wise, i actually only need to so called study for 2 papers. 2 of the 4 papers i have are like nothing much to mug one. so i am studying at quite a comfortable pace lala~

last night me, mingyun and yong kai went over to Ken's house to stay overnite. and ya we tried to mug overnite. but seriously the efficiency is damn low. not very productive. i think by about 4am we are already quite dead. haha.

anyway it was quite shiok to go Ken's house. its like so big. and i guess simply knowing that his house has 5 toilets is enough to roughly gauge the size of the house le haha. though in the future if i would still prefer to stay in condo then bungalow.

tomorrow is going to be the grading session for my intro econs project. hopefully my group can get at least an A grade!!

i watched Hanakimi and finished it in like hmm 2 days? its a very nice show and ya highly recommended.

somehow after watching the show, it made me ponder over quite a few things. and my life goal kinda changed slightly. pretty glad i watched the show =)

the side effect is that i am pretty "emo" these days. and at this moment when i am typing, i am actually troubled over some misc issues. usually pple stressed over sch work as exam is coming, but for me its diff. argh

hopefully i find the ans to my problems soon. its kinda affecting my concentration for revision. zzz

Received my Letter of Acceptance!

Yeah... was checking my mailbox last nite... and finally I received the Letter of Acceptance from Yamasa.

I am so so close to going to Yamasa le. excited. now just need to get the projects done and get the exams done!!

My Knee~!

oh ya... haha i realised i totally never blog about my knee.. and to think that its actually quite serious -_-

anyway due to one of the muay thai training session eh... one month plus ago? i kinda like injured my knee slightly. i thought it wasnt very serious and i made it worse as i went to run with run team the same week =X

i ended up limping around for 2 days maybe? and i rested for another 3-4 weeks without much trouble/pain etc etc.

Then comes the New Balance Real Run last sunday. I was going to run 10km and it turned out that i didnt even get to run more than 1km maybe?

zz apparently my knee nv recover la... even though i rested for 3-4 weeks. My knee began to hurt as i ran for about 1km. but i still managed to finish the 10km by walking/jogging the rest of the 9km -_- took me about 1 and half hour.. which is super long la.

so ya... once again i had been limping around for 2 days so far, today was much better. it may be because of the Glucosamine i ate, or because of the pain relief pad i pasted, or because of the Chinese Tie Da doctor that i saw who used acupuncture (not sure how to spell) on my knee. anyway as long as i can walk properly, i am a happy man

problem now is i gotta buy a knee guard... and i guess i shld not run etc for hmm at least 1 to 2 mths??? i have a good excuse not to exercise~! haha

Hellgate London

My brother just bought back a limited edition of Hellgate London. the game is pretty cool. after all it is made by the people who made Diablo, which is easily one of the best games ever =)

now i really have the temptation to buy a new laptop. or at least one that can support the game. my this laptop cant play any game one zz.. of cos usually this is a good thing cos studying in SMU, i wont have time to play game etc. BUT... i am going Japan! haha so its a totally different story.

think as soon as exam is over, i will be playing Hellgate like mad. and when i am at Yamasa, i will have plenty of chance/time to play games as well. its gonna be winter there so i think i will hide indoor most nights. even if i were to travel, it only make sense to travel during the weekend rite.

ok... yesterday while i was at MS class, one of my classmates was playing with her NDS with no intention to pay attention to class haha. power xia. wonder how she is going to study for her exam next time.

anyway the main thing is that she made me realise i shld download some new games to play. haha my NDS has been rotting and collecting dust at home these days and i thought its a good time i shld download some new games to play =) also i usually gets more and more free time as week 15 draws nearer haha. yes it is not a typo, i indeed becomes free-er as exams draws nearer haha. i guess thats the good part of being a brute force mugger.

Hmm today i went down to Fortune travel to collect the AIG insurance which i bought... and I found the time to fill up an online Arrival Registration form for Yamasa.

Well i guess i am all set to go Yamasa. Nothing much left really. Apparently Kelvin emailed the admin at Yamasa and they are already searching for accommodation for us =)

Now i just need to wait for the Letter of Acceptance so that i can ask for extra baggage from Northwest airline.

Application Process, Air tickets

I finally found the time to update my blog again. it has been a hectic week.

anyway to continue from the previous entry, what happened after my Dad agreed is that i immediately read up more on the courses offered by Yamasa etc etc... spend many many hours reading the super detailed/comprehensive website.

And the initial application was very simple. i just filled up a quick online applicatio form and i was paid my full fees soon after. went to the POSB bank behind the school and spent some time there figuring out how to send money to Japan haha.

I also went to check out Fortune travel to check out the tickets... initially i only wanted to find out the price... and it turned out that tickets are selling very fast for first week of January to Japan. SIA, JAL, Thai Airway were all fully booked. in the end i reserved a ticket from Northwest airline... and its departing on the 5th of January... 6am!!! zzz but no choice la... i wasnt that early and i should count myself lucky to have a economy class ticket available somehow.

Also just today, 1 week since i sent the money over, i received an email from Yamasa saying that they received my deposit. so yup. more or less everything is in placed. I am just waiting for them to mail me the Letter of Acceptance and application wise i am only left with the accomodation.. which i am trying to ask them to arrange for me and Kelvin to stay together. hopefully it materialises.

Evaluating the option to go Yamasa or not

ok la... actually at that time when i was presented the option of going to Yamasa to study together with Kelvin, i am already 80% decided. haha. i am just desperate to go Japan to spend a extended period of time there. it is like the dream/aim/goal of a person to spend months in a Japanese language school for someone who has been learning Japanese weekly for the past 1 and a half year.

learning a foreign language is painfully slow and difficult because lessons are only one a week, 3 hours a week, one only speak "some" japanese during classes etc etc it is just common sense that the fastest and most effective way to learn a language is to just go to the country itself and immerse yourself in the people, the culture and the language etc.

why doesnt everyone do it then? not everyone has the time. not everyone has the money and of cos not everyone has that level of ambition and passion.

anyway people who knows me will know me well that i am very into japanese in general (ok i dont listen to Jpop) like anime, manga, learning japanese, japanese food etc. and i really hope i get to stay in japan for an extented period of time, not just a 1 or 2 week tour in Japan.

ok i guess i drfited slightly. anyway the problems i faced is of cos money issue. the total cost of applying for the course and renting the accomodation plus the cost of living there for 3 months sums up to about 5.5k to 6k.

if i were to just go for this language school alone, it shldnt be a problem asking my dad to help out.. BUT... i am also going to APU for exchange from April to August -_- and this is going to cost several thousands too.

then again luck was on my side haha =) if it had been a year ago, i am pretty sure i wouldnt be able to go for this Yamasa thingy cos of the financial coniditons of my dad/family. but ya it is sufficient to know that my Dad has been doing well in his Cooling Tower business so ya i was telling myself, if i dont ask my dad now, i may never get the chance again

so i just went to ask my dad, hmm and ya he just agreed. well... i have to admit it was kinda too easy -_- i expected some resistance or something but oh well... this marks the start of my application for The Yamasa Institute! (of cos the first person i contacted was Kelvin... because he just had a company )

The very beginning: How did the idea of going to Yamasa come about

Well before i go into the application process of Yamasa Institute, i was thinking i should blog down how did i even get the idea of going there. So maybe years later i can look at my blog again to read what i wrote haha

Hmm not really sure where or when to start but it all began when i got accepted to Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific Univeristy, Japan for a one semestesr international exchange. the exchange is from early April to early August. So what happens is i am going to be doing nothing from december 2007 to march 2008 while i am waiting to fly off for the international exchange

I cant take classes during Jan to march because a full semester in SMU is Jan till about April. So by going Japan exchange from April onwards, i have to miss the entire semester.

Well most of my seniors who went Japan for exchange during the same kind of time frame ended up doing internship (like Thor) or do nothing or part time? for me personally, if i have the chance i really hope i can get to spend more time in Japan. only if i cant go japan somehow, then maybe i shall search for an internship.

therefore came the idea of asking my friends who are in Japan, whether i can stay with them or not from jan to maybe March? haha... its an ambitious plan but well you will never know until you try.

and Kit Wei who is in Waseda now actually can share her apartment with me... so that was the original plan. BUT obviously it didnt work out in the end cos she has a fren who is going to stay with her from November till Feb 08... T_T

so with that option out, i had the option of staying with one of my distant relative in Japan (which i wasnt very keen) or i can ask Sandy who is studying her MBA in International University Japan for her masters(also cant cos she stays in dorm and not rented apartment), or i ask Zhao wei who is also in Waseda Uni now (but he doing homestay so its kinda difficult also)

so ya it juz cant really work out la... so at this critical moment, Kelvin told me that he is going to this place to study advance japanese for 3 months.

And i guess its kinda obvious how this leads to the idea of going Yamasa Institute to study Japanese for 3 months. Now the problem is how feasible is the idea because te very first foreseeable issue is the cost itself already.

The idea of using this blog more of a blog that keep track of my Japan experience!

Hmm now its 11.35pm and ya i am just randomly surfing net and i came across this blog/webisite by this guy, David Charter who is/was a student from Yamasa Institute. he has several blogs/webby and one of them is like a blog purely dedicated to his experience in Yamasa starting from his application.

it was quite an interesting read and i was thinking maybe i should just do that. after all my everyday life is pretty simple... nothing interesting to read anyway. most of time even if i blog, it will most prob be me bitching about some stuffs.

so ya... maybe i will juz stick to my current blog... but ya will change everything to things about Japan lol. so if u are interested then you can follow my blog =)

past few days have been quite packed for me somehow. and its not because of school work haha.

i have just applied for a language school called The Yamasa Institute in Okazaki City in Aichi Prefecture in Japan =) will be enrolling in their intermediate japanese class from 6th january to 21st March

so ya before i decided to sign up for the class, i read their website for damn long la... cos its quite a major decision. in the end i really cant resist the idea of study japanese in Japan for a full 3 mths.

yesterday i just reserved air tickets that will bring me to Nagoya airport... my flight is on 5th January. apparently tickets for january are almost fully booked. JAL, SIA, Thai airways all full le... and i eventually managed to get North west airlines. problem now is its not student package thus the weight limit for luggage is the usual 20kg... and i have to bring winter wear along summore.. wonder how i am going to fit the 20kg requirement... zz

and seriously i am losing almost all my motivation to study for exams etc... i juz wan the term to end arghhhh

Post Econs Mid test

kaoz. think in my life, i have never than a test as vague as this... seriously i dunno how people in econs survive their degree, totally not my cup of tea.

well did whatever i can for revision, so just hoped all the "i think it should be this particular theory" answers will get me on the top of the bell curve. my paper is upon 380 marks haha... 90 minutes... damn killer...

to give u an idea how weird it is to do a 380 marks question paper when there are only 4 questions which several sub parts, i got this particular question asking some stuffs and its written 20 marks. i wrote one line... den to me thats already the ans... and i stopped and doubt myself... whether am i reading the question correctly...

anyway difficult la... the marks allocated for each sub parts are so huge until i totally cant gauge how long is the answer, how much to write etc...

see how ba.... pray hard.. he said before the test today, giving us an example, even a person who gets 30 out of 200 can get A grade... den the class is like totally stunned... imagine thats the figure he is looking at -_- i guess he dun expect more than a handful of pple even passing the paper he set. anyway conclusion is he will put everyone on a ranking system then give the grades according to bell curve... so ya juz hope i do better than the rest ba zz

hmm the show is not that bad la. the thing is if you watched the previous show then its juz a continuation.

i realise the main actress Milla Jovovich is damn hot. from certain camera angle she looks super pretty also. Plus in this film, got another hot babe, Ali Larter. I was quite stunned when i see her in the film. Cos i knew her from Heroes (e US drama) and i thought she was very pretty then. so seeing her on the big screen just adds to the joy haha

other than that its quite a simple show with the scary sound effects and quite a few "matrix" like stunts. its just 90 minutes i think so i guess its worth it since i watched it on a weekday =)

ok...what happened it i got 118. which i tot was totally ridiculous.

ok la... its not like i am sore loser or wat but i really think my IQ not so low lor.. in fact i always tot mine has been on the high side -_- you can ask around i dont think i come across as a person who has IQ on the lower side. Argh

anyway within the IQ test there are questions of all sorts and there are some that test on the english aspect and i tot maybe thats why. I admit i am not good with the language side to begin with so i guess thats why. mathematically i shldnt be that bad ma arghh.

now i regret taking that IQ test. cant stand it. cos i think subconsciously it is going to affect me somehow. so now i must bitch more and make sure my brain dont recognise that result haha. so that subconsciously i still think i am smart. which i think its important as a human being cos it affects the confidence level when one is assigned certain tasks.

with this experience, I am nv going to take a test on EQ. cos what if it turned out low oso... den cuiz xia... i can go jump off the building somewhere haha.

eh kaoz.. the one week break ended just lydat. wished it was longer arghh. anyway now that school has resumed, just hope every week passes very very fast so that december comes quicker haha.

even if I include week 15 which is the exam week, its juz 7 more weeks to go. and week 14 doesnt even have lesson as it is the study week for SMU students. so effectively its just 5 weeks worth of lessons, one week of study break and one week of exam.

and something quite random. I juz found out even my japanese sensei uses facebook. Stunned haha. i always tot facebook this kind of stuffs are more popular with students and bascially the younger generation but apparently my classmates from my japanese class (whom a lot are working and eh comes from different age groups) are like totally into facebook after one of the girls introduce them to it -_- interesting phenomenon

Reflection Assignment for for Management of People at Work module

I was thinking of what to blog then i realised i can actually post one of my reflection paper that i have writen for my Management of People at Work module. It sheds some lights on some of my experience so i thought would be okay to put on the blog.

anyway here you go...

For this topic under motivation and personality, one thing that struck me the most was the section on the 4 drivers of individual behaviour and results, especially the idea that situation is one of these drivers. This is because I can relate a lot to my experiences during my National Service.

I used to be an officer in the Training Branch of Basic Military Training School. I learnt a lot from my superior who is the Head of Training branch and in particular the belief that “structure drives behaviour”. Many of the behaviours that one can observe in the office are to a certain extent shaped by the system that is being in placed. Now that I try to recall, I realised that I can apply what I have learnt to what I have experienced in the office.

One particular issue was on the encouragement of the office staffs to work out regularly in order to keep fit. At the office, the staffs tend to be less willing to exercise as our job does not demand much from us physically. In this case, all of us at the office have the ability to go for exercise (we all went through basic military training and we are young and supposedly fit). Motivation wise, as we know that our body is growing out of shape, we are motivated to exercise in someway. As for role perception, we know exactly what to do as well – to go for a short run after work, having a short session of soccer or a quick work out at the gym. However even though we have the motivation, the ability and the role perception, we were still not exercising.

The problem was most of the staffs wanted to get home as soon as possible after a long day at work and there was no real incentive or disincentive for not working out. Life will still go on as usual. My superior at that time believed that the problem was that there was no structure in placed. In order to encourage people to work out and exercise, he implemented a system where the office closes early at 4pm every alternate day so that we (including our superior) could all go for a jog or to play soccer together before we were allowed to leave for home at 5.30pm.
The plan worked very well. From that day onwards, even the less active staffs will end up exercising as everyone else was doing it. And that was precisely the effect my superior wanted to achieve. During the one year when I worked under my superior, I saw him applying this “structure drives behaviour” theory in dealing with various problems and it has now become one of the “tools” I use to solve problems.

I am very glad that I actually get to learn from class that situation is one of the drivers of individual behaviour. It reinforces what I already subscribed to and I think it will help me tremendously in any work I do as I will have a tendency to step out of the “picture” and analyze if there is anything wrong with the situation. Very often, people fail to see that it may be the structure that is in placed that may be causing the problem.

Lastly, I use this “structure drives behaviour” in my everyday life too. One year ago, I was thinking of learning Japanese language as I wanted to aim for a Japan exchange program and I figured that I should pay money to attend weekly classes so that I would be “forced” to attend classes as compared to studying the language on my own and save the tuition money. It would require tremendously discipline to study on my own especially when the workload in SMU is pretty much unforgiving (a very strong situation!). One year has past and it worked well for me as I am currently still taking weekly Japanese language classes.

Revamped my blog slightly

Okay, seems like today i have quite a bit of drive/ motivation to change my blog slightly.

Added a section on the current books that i am reading. While people like to read novels etc, I belong to the kind of people who likes to read those books you find the "self-improvement" sections if you were to go MPH or Borders. So yup, was thinking this will nicely keep track of what books i have read this year. and i guess if anyone bothers to keep track of what i read, this may reveal certain aspects of my personality i think.

And with that i thought I might as well add in a section on the manga that i am currently reading (i.e still waiting for the entire series to complete). If i were to list all the comic series that i have finished reading, it will be too bloody long so i kinda just restrict to those that i am currently reading and anxiously waiting for the next book to be released.

lastly i added a section on the goals i have in life. i tot its gonna be quite good for reminding myself and also for anyone who bothers to read to know something abt me. basically i am someone who dont really intend to climb the corporate ladder. I do quite well academically but my interest really lies in running a business which ironically do not really require good grades. thats why sometimes i really find it difficult to get the motivation to study as i know i wont really be using my degree to find jobs. then again i also think that if as a student, i cant cope with my studies, then as an entrepreneur, how can i expect to do well in business? i think thats my source of motivation to continue striving for academic excellence.

anyway ya tired le. its already 1am. time to sleep~

Hmm i just realised it has been quite a while since i last blogged (it always happen)

and the fact that i actually end up blogging, it just shows how bored i am now. life has been rather hectic and i spent much of my free time in the school library T_T

of course the "outcome" is that i am rather comfortable with the pace of the classes and the workload ( i am kinda ahead of schedule or every subject) and that also translate to higher happiness and optimism relative to the many SMU students i see around. more often than not, if you were to throw a stone at a SMU crowd, that particular student you hit will most likely be a student who is rather stressed with the workload that he/she is currently having haha. this is especially true for the inexperienced year ones. Years 2 onwards are more like veterans of the SMU battlefield, so used to the many project meetings and presentations that we kinda dont feel as stressed as compared to the freshies.

its weird that today i have some motivation to blog, just wanna take a short break from reading my economics textbook. was reading up on Game Theory which i thought was quite interesting. ok thats a bit out of the point.

i also realise the information on my blog also abit very old le... maybe one of these days i should update according. and i think i shld get used to blogging often cos i am going to go Japan for a half a year exchange and i think writing a blog would be quite interesting =) maybe i will blog more abt me going to Japan exchange next time la... for those who actually read until this point haha

even though i nv work during the holidays, sumhow i have quite a bit of stuffs to keep me occupied...

i have just finished applying for international exchange to Japan. Now what i can do is just pray that i will get it... Will know the results as soon as early Sept... which is like right after my new term starts.

Recently, i am trying to pick up this game that is found in the arcade, called 三国志大战. its quite a cool game so i am devoting a lot of time to read up on the game, watch pple play etc etc... haha and its freaking expensive zz... its 3 dollars to play one time... and one can easily spend hundreds on it. Its also supposedly one of the hottest game in Japan now. so ya if i ever get to go Japan, i will sure visit the arcade their and play with the Japanese!!

My school orientation camp gonna start soon le. in fact its in 3 days time. I am going to be a facilitator so ya not sure what to expect... if kena those damn quiet pple.. or damn pai kia or ah lian kind of pple den i sure sian... not sure how to handle them... pray hard again

Saturday Afternoon

I kinda got nutting much to do at this moment and i am desperately trying to find website to surf but in vain. so juz blog some stuffs ba.

My mum and bro just left for Msia this morning. Sianz. i have to wash my own clothes etc by myself T_T this is wat i told my mum and she scolded me immediately haha. imagine ur mum is to go msia and as her son, the first thing and most prob the onli thing he is worried abt is the laundry =X haha

Yesterday was the get together session for JCC. And tata onli the exco turned up. Hmm think hor SMU students really v busy one. all got test etc. so nv come. or i really hope it is because this is the exam week therefore none of the members are free to come. then again if week 9 of sch pple are oready busy... it is just going to get worse for wk 10.. wk 11... wk 12.. wk 13.. and wk 14... typical lifestyle of a SMU student.

Today i supposed to go for Judo training oso. But yesterday my group just decided to have a grp meeting today... because presentation is on coming friday. sigh. wth lor. i tried damn hard to free up my saturday so that i can go for judo (and so that i wun get scolded by my senior) and tata on friday itself i got booked -_- and ya like i said. this is the life of a SMU student.

luckily my Japanese lesson is on Sunday. then no one likes to have meeting on sunday. thus i have not missed any of the japanese lesson so far... for 8 mths le... incredible...

and this sunday is my Japanese test. need to study for it. gone are the days when the tests are so so easy until u nv study oso can get 90 plus marks. These days the test has evolved to a stage if u dun read up.... one can really stare at the paper =S then again this also shows the things i learn finally is of some standard which indirectly oso means my japanese got some standard le rite hehe =P

recently i oso looking for photo to put online. hmm. when i find some nice pic den i put ba.

Hmm haha as usual, damn long nv post again... den today Jill actually asked for my blog... so ya i think i better type some new post haha

so fast CNY over le... it was together with my one week sch break... and ironically, i am more busy during this one week school break compared to when i have normal school days. it is like cos it is the sch break thus everyone wanna meet up... den go out etc.. den friday and saturday was totally burnt cos i was involved in Wakiki 2007 (its a beach event organised by Sports union)

CNY was pretty normal. didnt get a lot of ang bao as usual.. PR ma.. all my relatives in msia... but i did go out with my clique though. every year also lydat... trying hard to maintain this tradition of going out during CNY haha

The next big thing that took place was Waikiki. I tot it was quite fun to be helping out in this beach event. met many people, knew many new friends. and of cos by helping out in beach event, i got to see many babes... happy xia... den again.. the drawback is... after seeing all the hunks... i really think i shld go do some running T_T

and today was JCC AGM... meaning Annual General meeting... basically its is something like the previous Exco handing over to the new Exco. hmm nutting spectacular.. juz one big thing off my mind.. so no need to keep thinking about it.

Packed Schedule

Xia la these days dunno why dun have alot of time.

But there is one good news to celebrate though. recently was the election for Japanese Cultural Club and i managed to become the VP. i originally ran for President but oh well, seems like luck is not on my side as if I lost out on one vote T_T i just need one more to be on my side.

but ok la come to think of it.. now become VP also good... always will have this one guy above me... so anything i can still fall back on him LOL

recently i also got fired to revise my japanese. JCC had an exchange with Waseda Shibuya Senior High School (eh the sch is in west coast one) and ya spoke to some japanese students... den realise i really need to brush up on my japanese... i by right... supposed to know enough to converse abit but haha after i learnt in my classes.. i sort of like return all of them to my sensei... arghh... so yesterday nite i actually spent like 2 hrs plus or maybe even more than that to read through my elementary notes... maybe tonite or something i shall read my intermediate notes haha.

basically ya just wanna post something so my blog wun like look so dead lol... oh i recently watched qutie abit of funny videos... maybe i post them here one of these days when i v v free.

oh ya someting interesting i did this week is that i went to open an OCBC trading account... so that ya i can trade alittle of shares... eventhough i really noe nothing abt it haha... just open an account and play around with it... i have a friend whu is trading so many so psycho him to teach me a little... budden the application process is going to take some time and i still have to wait for them to mail me summore... den the person whu attended to me said maybe take 2wks? thats like so long la sianz...

Phew my holiday finally started.

for the past 2 weeks, it hasnt really been a holiday for me. busy with tons of stuffs... basically everyday i got something on wth arghh

magical xmas finally over le... the blood donation drive is quite fun la i must say... made alot of friends oso. and i donated blood oso haha. so happy xia. i feel high when i see the needle go in and the blood flows out muahaha... think something is wrong with me

and another thing is i finally bought my Nintendo DS lite... damn happy... quite fun... its a very interesting handheld console and with interesting games. highly recommended lol... join the DS family!!

another thing abt the hols which i cant stand is that i am spending way more then my whole semester combined... wtf lor... everyone go out wanna eat good food... party here party there... gathering here gathering there... outing here outing there... totally sian diao... plus i going to buy some stuffs oso... sianz... low on cash le la

Back from NACLI Camp

Hmm juz got home from a 2 days camp at NACLI organised by ACF (arts culture fraternity)

went there representing Japanese Cultural Club together with my friend Junming and my VP Jasmine...

quite cool nia. its a Retreat... so we really like eat alot and the settings is very relax and informal. alot of free time and we kinda just discussed some issues that ACF faced...

met many other people from the other clubs under ACF. and got a few gals v pretty xia. dun mind spending the whole camp just admiring them haha. my eye candies

den my room is air con summore and after dinner i went back to watch anime haha cos my fren brought his laptop.

anyway quite a pleasure camp although i wouldnt really say its very very fun but ok la... it helped widen my social circle. never really been involved in this kind of Arts kind of things (pple i meet there all arts club, photography club, band, broadcast entertainemnt, dance etc etc) so its quite a new experience for me.

but i did find alot of time to read comics (rented like more than 50 books so far since my exam ended.. and it has onliy been like eh 1 wk? haha

i oso watching prison break now.. damn nice... and ya simply addictive and intense....

and most importantly i am involve in the blood donation drive called "Magical Christmas" at NEL Dhoby. hmm for 8th and 9th Dec the volunteers from SMU are helping out Red Cross with raising awareness... the Actual blood donation is on 15th and 16th Dec (fri and Sat) right inside NEL Dhoby wor.... eh its not the North South line kkk... its the one at the Plaza Singapura escalator that station...

so got chance must go donate blood kkz...

ya that is kinda like keeping me occupied for now T_T

Anyway haha this is inspired by this website i have been learning from... it teaches japanese through podcast (if u dunno wats podcast... eh haha pls go find out).

in every lesson, they will like have a conversation in japanese... followed by an english translation sentence by sentence... den the host will try explain in detail all the terms and how to use them.

den i like juz dl all their lesson den i listen on the train when i go to sch and when i go home... its v user friendly so u seriously can pick up some simple japanese from there.... if dun understand can always listem to the same mp3 track again and again.

and ya i highly recommend if u kinda interested to learn some spoken japanese as i personally learn way more spoken japanese from listening to the podcast... as compared to me learning at the language centre... cos they teaches all the everyday terms... so v useful. trust me man... if u got MP3 player.. and morning when u go sch always stoning one... might as well give it a try rite?

so why i still learn at the centre? of cos i learn all my grammar and written and reading skills at the centre la haha. so still useful... plus cos of my foundation, i absorb the podcast faster oso. ai am at lesson 70 plus le haha.

so ya as i mentiond in my previous blog entry... i gonna start some japanese lesson stuffs (actually by doing this i learn some japanese oso haha)

hmm haha really lazy to blog. but ya today kinda like force myself to update some stuffs and i wonder who reads anwyay haha (pls leave some stuffs at the tag board so that i noe u read la)

quite some time nv blog, and i realised like quite abit of stuffs happened.

this semester passed real fast.. it is going to be my one week break den test le... and ya past few weeks has been like projects projects and more projects... one after another...exciting xia -_-

oh ya i recently oso on potato chips craze... every once or twice in a week i will go 7-11 den go buy some potato chips to eat haha.... and everytime i will buy a diff flavour or a diff brand. so i have tried quite a few oready. today i juz ate one new potato chips for the first time in my life. its quite nice leh... but i 4get wats the brand le haha. if not i will recommend... anyway next time den i note down den blog it haha

hmm another thing abt wats happening in my life these days is my passion for japanese language grew even higher haha. sumhow i foresee myself to learn japanese until i am like damn pro in it la.... today is my intermediate 1 class test... quite confident can pass.. going on to intermediate 2 class le... have learn japanese for about 8 mths le... yet i cant really speak much haha.. so sianz... and these days i think friends whu see me often confirm damn irritated by me haha.... cos i always utter phrases of japanese and ya they freaking dun understand haha... den i will explain the meaning... den they will scold me that they dun really wanna learn haha. wth.. T_T

but ya i figured that i shld speak more japanese so that pple see me they oso will get used to it eventually haha.. and u see Sam = the one who will utter japanese phrases regardless whether u noe or not (in more crude terms...pain in the ass haha)

aiya dun lydat ma... must be supportive wat... i trying to learn japanese so that i can go japanese for exchange... and sriously most likely my career next time would be something related to japanese.

and ya i oso watched finish ouran high school host club (btw i watch so that i can improve my japanese kkz... ) den according to my fren nicole, she says shld watch without reading subtitle will help to learn jap... wth haha its super difficult la... i freaking dunno wat they talking and after sometime i become like watching motion pictures and i am training my skills of how to interpret cartoon instead haha...

den now i watching this anime called "Mai HiME".. quite nice leh.. got chance u all can try to watch...

i oso thinking of getting prison break from my friends.... heard and seem v interesting.. but of cos not going to start watching till my exams is over... it is test and proven to be damn addictive haha

Wah i realised it has been such a long while since i last blog... anyway its oso nothing surprising cos i dont blog often to beging wif haha

so much has happened this one mth plus. schedule is got kinda pack. think pple are so valid to say SMU stands for Sinagpore Mugger University haha.

anyway its oready midterm and everyone is studying for their exams. i have already taken 2 tests le (Biz Law and Managment Accounting) and presented my project for Creative Thinking Class. I am left with one last test which is Stats.

just wanna complain abit about ManagementAccouting. Cant stand it.. i got the more difficult qns correct and i got the first 2 questions wrong which are the simplest qn of all sigh. also dunno why i so careless, didnt read the answers slowly and carefully and end up i got caught by the trick questions. sianz. 2 points out of 20 points (the test onli upon 20) is alot leh zzz summore i lost it due to stupid reasons summore sigh.

And my Creative Thinking project was so so nice. i like it so much. my project was to tackle the problem of some super plain and boring GSR (Group Study Room) thus my group tried to like do a make over for the room with a Movie Theme. It turned out to be so nice although we didnt spend alot of time on it compared to the other groups (think we only meet like 3 to 4 times, each less than an hour haha). den end up quite impressive summore haha. out of the 6 groups who presently, i personally think we are either the 2nd or 3rd to the best. and this also marks the end of my half credit course. No more CT class for the next half of the sems. shiok

ok la. type enuf le. so my blog wun look so outdated haha. anyway i still got one last test to go. hopefully i can do well =)

VIVACE

finally the end of my first week of sch in smu. today was the VIVACE as well. its like the CCA fair for SMU where every CCA try to con people in joining their cca and give them this $5 coupon which each of us has one (SMU gonna give the club real cash in exchange for these $5 coupons they have). mine was "snacked" away by my fren at the touch rugby booth. zzz

anyway its quite an interesting day. has to be interestinf considering i joined like so many cca. now i am wondering how am i going to manage my time haha. i am as good as trying to kill myself haha.

i joined like the investment club (E.Y.E), the entrepreneur club (VENTURES), judo, ultimate frisbee, some international exchange kind of club (AIESEC), some public speaking club (Toastmasters. my fren chun wee tot its a drinking club lol), and Japanese Cultural Club.

haha now my calendear is super super packed. its insane. plus i am going for interview for this part time surveyor job zzz. got financial difficulty so die die still must work abit to at least cover my bills and transport.

the modules i taking are all v interesting. i really like them alot. BUT the catch is, cant i not be graded for any of them? lol. its really good to learn about government and society, analytical skills, creative thinking and even some statistic lessons since i am FM student haha. but ya fun and eager to learn abt the lessons dun equate to doing well for the module. zzz plus all the projects, its juz going to kill me haha

to end with a good note, i still find my SMU life gonna be quite enriching and fun la. my last 4 yrs as student le... so must have a optimistic mindset and study and play at same time!! one thing able making a successful entrepreneur ur aim... which is it doesnt matter wats my GPA... it doesnt matter i get 1st class, 2nd class honors haha cos i hire myself lol

Back from Freshman Camp

the 3 days SMU freshman camp finally ended. quite tiring. it was at this MOE Adventure camp site which is all the way at Changi. so far la. but its beside the beach so quite windy. and the place i sleeping at happen to be the closest availabl to the beach so considered quite lucky le ba.

hmm made lots of new friends there and my ex OCS buddy happen to be in my OG. wat a coincidence. He still as Flirt as ever. he like got so many female frens in that camp. scary. sometimes really envious of him haha.

another thing abt the camp is there are so many international students. in my grp got 3 gals from other countries one. one from thailand one from china and one from indo. so quite cool.

the games we play there, according to them, is to build teamwork and leadership blah blah. so ya its a leadership and teambuilding camp bascially. and its quite tiring la. to a certain extent. i guess its even more shag for the gals. we played lots of telematch games, which i dunno how to desc here on the blog haha. anyway its thoes games need some running, thinking, coorperation etc.

anyway now that i am typing i realise abit hard to desc wat i went thru in the camp haha. its quite an unique experience. to conclude, i am glad i went for the camp and now i cant wait for sch to start =)

Been such a long long time since i last blog le. today abit free so finally manage to make myself sit down at blog abt some stuffs

recently i am pretty occupied with SMU stuffs. school gonna start soon le (21st Aug) and i just went to my Biz camp. it went quite well, made a grp of new frens and now i know i wont be so lost in my first day of sch.

recently i started to like indicate on my calender on which day i have stuffs on. and as of now when i look at it i really got stunned. its so so sianz. sch haven start and my calendar is oready like so so packed. got a few outing i gonna attend (friends going overseas for studies den gonna meet up and i have 2 of such appointments), a few bdae parties as well (cant imagine why there are so many people having bdae at the same mth). den i gonna attend this freshman camp which last 3 days and plus a pre camp dinner. hmm my jap lesson oso start le so thats another one nite occupied every wk. i also gotta attend this SMU convocation (its to initiate freshman students into smu).

see? my calendar is so so packed. damn scary.

ok enuf of my complaining haha. hmm recently i been to minds cafe for like 3 times and i really gotta recommend friends to go there and play. there is this minds cafe at selegie road/ princep street there so u all can go try it out. its like settlers cafe la... to play boardgames one. me and my clique keep play this game called Citadel. highly recommended if u wanna play something challenging haha. its a very tactical and mentally taxing game... and thats also precisely when we like it =)

Today has been a great eye opener for me. i was the usher for this function by Cartier at The Art Museum (beside Victoria Concert Hall)

It was my friend's brother's lobang. apparently he was the usher for last year's function. so this year i had the chance to be involved as well. The job is from 5pm to 11pm and the pay is $70 so ya when my friend was asking if i wanna take up the job i jus happily agreed. its juz a one nite thing.

so at first i didnt really know what kind of function it is going to be. i was thinking its by cartier so should have alot of v v v rich pple. so was actually quite excited haha. den when i reach there, i see red carpet etc etc. den after the briefing i realised its a diamond exhibition/show. they kinda have this new series den ya they have models to walk on stage. den after that they view at gallery and dinner den go off.

so i was standing along the red carpet receiving them. seriously. it is like what u see on tv, u can sense the "upper class" aura of these pple. the ladies simply look like tai tai. they have the tai tai aura one haha. den the diamond necklace they wearing, kaoz... its juz so so many diamond and according to one of the perm staff there, he told me one of the necklace the lady is wearing is cost 8 million. 8 million leh... wth... this is insane... that stupid necklace cost more than a house. siao one.

i was thinking if they sell one diamond necklace during this event, they already recover the money spent in this function haha. apparently the necklace they sell also cost quite a bomb one. my fren say one on display 4 million dollars. so ya thats the kind of guests i saw today. all quite old one haha. den i realise the guys are all so so decent looking. got the rich guy look. none of them look phunky or anything haha. and all short short hair one. i think i shall stick to my short hair liao haha. den got chance to be rich in future haha.

among all the guests, got this lady brought her daughter along... think only 15 yrs old lydat. killer xia... she is not pretty la... but i think confirm no lack of suitors. so so rich. if marry her... den no need to worry abt ur future le haha.

another thing that i realise, once u are rich, pple around u will sweet talk to u until so so kua zhang and all they wan is to make u feel happy so that u will by their necklace haha. every guests they receive they will give this "ahhh mrs ang u look so pretty! i almost cant recognise u oh my god" ya something along that line. when i think the lady totally not pretty at all haha. cuiz. so fake.

another thing is they drink champagne like we drink soft drinks lydat haha. den some smoke cigar. so class xia. bian tai. all so so rich. den all the guys hor are like late 40s and 50s le.... den onli this guy look like early 30s... that one i respect xia. aspire to be like him haha. so young den so so rich le. same league as the other ah peks. last thing is apparently in this diamond necklace industry, those feminine guys are rather common haha cos i saw quite a few perm staff are lydat. zzz

ya i am done with my exclaimation haha. today really open my eyes to a different world. cool.

Yeah France won!

yesterday was a great day, cos france won against brazil. i was at cineleisure hmm the cafe on the 5th floor galilee and friends i think watching the 11pm England vs Portugal match and then 3am Brazil vs France match.

I have watched a few matches of soccer outside but i seriously nv seen a more enthusiastic crowd then yesterday for the England vs Portugl match. Apparently there are many england supporters in SG maybe cos of the fact that most pple watches EPL and ya cos of Beckham ah, Owen ah, Gerrard ah, Lampard ah...all the yandaos or cute guys. (hhm thats wat the gals always say) haha. yesterday that match was really exciting. so much shouting, so much drama. esp during the penalty, ur heart can stop momentarily to watch them take their shots. england was really down on their luck. lampard and gerrard missing their penalty is juz something that wont happen that often. they are like among the best soccer players in the world and their shooting ability is without a doubt. sigh~ maybe cos they have been playing under pressure for the entire match and lost their concentration le ba. its a pity england had to exit this way, with one man red carded and fought to penalty and to have their best players missing their shots. think its gonna be a blow for all of them esp their captain Beckham who was subsituted midway. you can see him tearing at the bench. sad.

anyway it was already 2am when the match ended so me and my clique decided to just stay and watch the france and brazil match. there are only 2 france supporter among the 8 of us. and the reason is cos me and him bought france to win haha =P it was like 10pm when we were walking towards cineleisure, den my this fren remembered abt the very high odds of france winning and he say that he wanna buy. den all of us were like saying that 10pm singapore pools already close le. den he kinda like insist he wanna take a look in lucky plaza and ya as buddies we just follow him lor. when we step into lucky plaza i still remember me scolding him saying that confirm no singapore pools one cos all shops are closed le... u can only see 7-11 and mac still open. den he still dun giv up. he walked off alone den ask us to go cine first or something. den we like suck thumb juz follow him hor

*btw we went to the house of condom and seriously this was the first time i go in. quite interesting haha. but most stuffs that are sold are for gals? and they called it hse of condoms -_- hehe

before we know it. we saw a group of crowd round a corner deep in lucky plaza with all the shops closed. i was so so so stunned with wat i saw. there is like maybe 20 pple gathered in this singapore pools shop -_- haha so in the end i bought 10 bucks (i tot confirm lose but cos abit guilty i scold my fren plus its quite miraculous we actually found the shop, so i juz buy $10 for fun.) the odds is 5.1 so not that bad la. if win i will win 41 bucks lor. and anyway france not that weak also la. they beat my fav team spain 3-1 lor. plus france has theiry henry leh. so me and my fren was hoping we may get lucky.

so during the match we are like so so so gan jiong haha. france played v well from the start. think late into the game, the commentator was saying that " bathez (france goalkeeper) hasnt has a shot to save yet and that is a remarkable statistic considering that you are playing against brazil). the game was quite in a deadlock all the way until henry scored that one goal. it was brilliant and i am so so glad he scored. (i am arsenal fan btw and he is arsenal captain.) but its also after the first goal, brazil starts to get play very offensive and so many times u think that france is going to lose the lead and i am going to lose my 41 bucks hah. but luckily they managed to hold the former world cup champions and sent them tearing as the final whistle blows =). apparently brazil nv lost a single match since they lost to france 3-0 in 1998. so maybe france is their curse or something hehe.

ya after the match its already 5am le. so we walked to sommerset mrt to wait for the first train which comes at 6.30 zz. so ya we just stoned outside the mrt. some of us slpt and we looked so ke lian haha =P

ok so pen off here le. typed so so much. anyway now i cant wait for the semi finals le. i am a supporter for germany and france right now. hmm if they meet in final. den i think again hehe =)

Sigh. a demoralising moment for me. czech lost to ghana 2-0. ghana managed to get a freak goal in the 1st min of the match and czech was kinda like playing the match with a 1 goal disadvantage. damn sian. think they v suay.

hmm i am a Spain supporter btw haha =P but i like czech alot. they are v good as well. wishing them all the best for the next match. against italy zzz its gonna be a tough game.

Back from Thailand and its World Cup!!

yup, back from thailand for a few days le. finally managed to make myself sit down in front of the lap top and spend some time to blog.

actually i intented to blog the entire of my trip to thailand... but its like 7 days long and hmm haha i am very lazy to blog the whole thing... i kinda like tried to take down notes every nite when i was in thailand so that i can blog when i return to SG. so the notes is still like lying on my table just that i cant bring myself to blog it down haha. lala... maybe some time when i really reallyt nutting to do den i will write it down. anyway i had a very fun trip to thailand. experiences like ate some bugs, tried para sailing and jet ski and seen some tansvertite and walked thru a gay street are just unforgetable haha

hmm i got a video of me and my friends eating the cockroach like bug, but dunno how to put it on the blog leh. any idea how anyone??

kk enuf of thailand. for now its world cup!! today i finally subscribed to the world cup channel le. can everyday watch world cup le. so happy. today watched the australia match. simply stunning. they dominated the game with japan having a goal's advantage and the goal being a controversial one. juz when u tot they gonna lose undeservingly australia scored 84th 89th and 92nd minute goals to come back 3-1. simply breath taking

Hmm saturday was NJC's fun fair so i went back with my clique to take a look. The school has changed much. There were so many people and the weather was very humid so i was practically sweating at any moment. Met a few teachers and had a good chat with them esp Ms Cai. She was in a njc polo tee and she freaking looked like a student -_- she is those kind of gals with v small build and the cuter kind of gals one so its really hard to guess that she is 28 this year. scary.

after spending the early afternoon in njc, i went to play dota as usual and eventually we rot until mid nite to watch over the hedge at cineleisure. its very funny and somehow i managed to stay awake haha. the ending of the show really rox big time so everyone shld go and watch =)

Yeah. i am 181 dollars richer today haha. Went over at 7pm to maestro bistro (the cafe in cineleisure where i worked part time) after work to collect my cheque and ended up chatting with some of my closer colleagues till 8 plus -_- at the start of the day i still thought of going home early to rest summore xia haha

afterwhich i went over to kinokuniya to search for books by Jeffery Deaver and James Patterson. I realised that most of the books are not in "perfect" condition one. so v sian. izit that hard to find? but of cos most of them are acceptable la. there are like so many titles to choose from and i was totally in a loss. zzz. both authors wrote countless best sellers and it was so tough to choose. anyway kino does not have the book i am looking for which is "the bone collector" by Jeffery Deaver. den i decided to go over to Borders to check if they have it.

this is also when i regretted making such dumb decision hha. i walked all the way to borders to find out that the books there are even lesser and worse still, the condition of the books sucks big time man. sianz. so desperate to get a book to read, i ended up walking all the way back to kino again and eventually chose to buy "The Jester" by James Patterson.

hopefully its going to be a v nice book and lets see how long i am going to take to finish the book haha

Today i have this encounter that i thought i must blog it.

was at my grandma house for dinner this evening. at one point i was asked by my dad and uncle to go 7-11 to buy some beer back. at the same time, my nephews (pri 6 boy and pri 4 gal) wanted to follow me as well to buy slurpee. den i was thinking they should be old enuf to know how to get their own slurpee so no harm bringing them along.

we were at the 7-11, they happily ran to the slurpee machine, took their cups and choosing which flavour to get. so i walked over to the fridge looking for the beers. after locating the beers, i walked over to to check out how the kids are doing. the pri 4 gal was like filling her cup with this slurpee which runs like water -_- cos maybe they still freezing the drink thus the drink is actually very watery, but she juz happily fills her cup with it anyway.

the problem comes when she attempts to fill more even though the cup is going to be full (she capped the cup... leaving the hole at the top). den i was like thinking the cup cant be that secure to prevent water from leaking out thus i tried to stop her... so she did stop... but only for that few seconds, somehow she decided to pull the handle again zzz... guess what, the cap came out, the drink spilled zzz. and btw she is in gifted class one.. but i have no clue what she is thinking zzz

den i held my anger... anyway she is just a kid... so i tried to clear up the mess...
this time round its my the other nephew's turn (pri 6 boy). this time round, i thought it was going to be ok, but again, he stunned me by pulling the slurpee machine's handle with so much force that the fluid just rush one. in an instance, the cup is already half filled. so i tried to stop him so that i can help him but he just stopped, and without notice, he pulled the handle again... zzz

this time round was worst, cos he capped the cup as well, and that the output was alot more powerful, the drink cap bursted and the floor was in a mess.. zz cannot make it leh... and he is supposed to be top 3 of his level in his pri sch

sighz.. nowadays... dont understand how these kids survive... i think i gifted calibre one la... cos i can filled slurpee better than them when i was their age. zzz

lol guess i did something stupid today... which is to go to yck stadium and listen to the SDA rally. was hoping to see/ hear something fun/spectacular but i was so bored at the rally. They started speaking in english for the first few speakers. den came this guy who requested to speak in hokkien and the Emcee said "why not?"... wats worse is all the subsequent speakers spoke in hokkien wth... den i was so bored (cos i canto not hokkien, cant understand a thing). when i wanted to leave... the emcee started introducing this malay speaker, den i was like oh finally english again... and guess wat? he spoke in Malay -_- i was like wat the... i am so "impressed" by the SDA haha

Bought some Books

Bought myself some new books. "Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell, "Tough time never last, but tough people do" by robert h. schuller, "Rich dad poor dad" by robert T. Kiyosaki (eh yuwei bought this just to lend you k haha) wonder how long am i going to take to finish all these books. Somehow whenever i stand at the Self help section of any bookstore, i have the urge to buy some of the books and read them. However after i bought it, the urge/motivation kinda like die down and the book will be there lying on my table, collectiong dust. Need to force myself to finish these books arghh

Today was the first tuition lesson for Meiying's sister. Sec 3 physics, such a long while since i last tuned my mind to think physics. Luckily O level is really the very basics/ fundamental compared to A level, so still can handle somehow. Its 50 bucks for 2 hrs, but i spent them on the above mentioned books lol. i think i really know how to spend money zzz

Jap Lesson

Hmm today was my second jap lesson at Bunkalang which is at Delfi Orchard. Learnt quite a bit. Gotta spend the weekend digesting the stuffs i have juz learnt. Was glad that i signed up to study Jap at that place. I am learning at a fast pace and hopefully by next year i can take JLPT 3 or something.

Today was a very normal working day for me. nothing spectacular happened. The only event worth mentioning is that i realised Maxwell has this hum ji peng stall that requires you to fry your own hum ji peng haha. its 7 for a dollar plus lots of oil spilling on you Free of Charge haha. And Marcus Rayvon Meiying and Joanna were like so fancinated by it lol. Joanna even took picture xia. but all the photos only can see Marcus (Joanna must be in luv with him haha =P)

hmm haha maybe there is one more event that i can mention la. we were supposed to have this fire drill in the afternoon. so the alarm went and guess what? no one seemed to care -_- if there is really a fire, i wonder what will happen haha. anyway i went to pee (yes during a fire evacuation haha) den when i come out... i was dragged by rayvon to go down the stairs so i suck thumb and juz follow with the drill. so obvious many many people didnt get out of the building lor cos the stairs isnt packed. haha. eventually we crossed many roads and reached Bestway which i cant pin point where izit. seriously not many people gathered at the meeting point. so if there is a real fire, think more than half the staffs will perish =X ... jk la... but rayvon seemed to be very pissed that people dont take the fire drill seriously haha.

okok la.. i cant type well so i shall not bore anyone who is reading. eh leave somethings in my tag if u have read la... at least my blog looks more lively haha =P

I watched one of the most exciting moments of champions league. The match between arsenal and villareal is one match that i am so glad i forced myself to crawl out of the bed and watched. With 1 goal in hand, Arsenal was on the defensive almost the entire game and just when everyone expects the game to end on the 89th minute, a penalty was given to villareal! What made it worse was that it was a mistake by the referee as it was an act by the villareal striker. Didnt bother to remember his name (and lazy to check soccernet as of the moment i am typing this haha). My heart was pumping damn fast at that moment. and i was so relieved and happy that the penalty was saved!!

Finally went for a Jog

Has been a long while since i got home by 7pm. even during weekends, i will be out early in the morning till late nite, sumtimes overnite at shao's condo in town. So glad that i finally found time to go for a jog. The last time i exercise i believed was about 2 months ago haha. Sad. gotta get my body back in shape =(

Made a new pair of specs yesterday. Collecting it in 7 days time. cant wait to wear it. not because it is new/cool/stylo. it is simply because i cant see clearly with my current specs! sighz~ the optician told me that my eye sight has gotten worse by a very alarming margin and it freaked me out. the dota and WoW sessions are killing me. with only one working eye ( i have lazy eye on the left zzz). i have made up my mind that i should quit playing games. or at least not as hardcore as 10 hours straight in a day. used to start playing from i woke up till i sleep in the night.

its sad to make such a decision. afterall, i have been playing game since sec 1 and i always thought i was quite good at it =P i mean there are always people whu are good in guitar, good in dance, good in soccer, good in public speaking. so i think i am the kind good in gaming. after so many years and i have to give up now really saddens me. but on well, i guess the time that i have freed myself of playing games, i can use them to read more books and go for exercise more often. **i firmly believed that if i have read more books and love reading books than playing games, my english would have been way way way better, thus i am a late starter on brushing up my english thru reading.

lastly, i wanna say that i am so proud of myself for finishing Da Vinci Code. i totally cant recall when was the time i finish a novel. its just a beginning for my long journey into the world of novels. hope to find some nice books to read. and of cos not forgetting to mention, Da Vinci Code is a v v v v nice book. a must read.
